Custom Design – the optimum approach to your application

I n close cooperation with our customers we devise tailored solutions for control and interface engineering.

We are focussed on controller engineering systems using equipment from various manufacturers. A number of projects in the fieldbus and interface engineering area have been successfully completed. The development stretches from the preparation of specifications to the design of prototypes. All development steps can be executed or ordered separately so as to tap into customers’ existing know-how. We are specialized in development of safe and intrinsically safe hard and software components.

slide-17
SLIDE 17

Safety engineering has grown greatly in importance over the last few years due to a number of spectacular events. Using SAFEPROG and SafeOS, we offer our customers two matching software components which enable manufacturers of safety control equipment to set up a complete system in line with I EC 61508 up to SI L3. Their development and certification effort is thereby greatly reduced.

Together with our long-standing partner KW-Software, we provide solutions for the full range of safety applications in line with IEC 61508 and compliant with SIL2 and SIL3, from small safety control systems with just a few safe inputs/outputs to complex safety systems. Using clearly defined interfaces, the PLC runtime system SafeOS runs independently of the operating system and can therefore be adapted to suit any target system. For safety logic, libraries with defined safety modules are available which serve as a basis for custom-designed modules. Jointly with you, we devise concepts for the hard- and software of your safety controls. Using certified software and drawing on our hardware expertise, we achieve an extremely short time to market, no matter what the processor performance, size and price.

Typical control engineering proj ects

Development of controls to be installed in compression-proof casings

Customer: Bartec S icherheits-S chaltanlagen GmbH We worked with the customer on the development of a PC-based control system using a low power CPU. The system had to be safe under harsh ambient conditions and in a narrow space. Furthermore up to 4 Profibus circuits per control head were to be implemented. By selecting suitable components in combination with various proprietary developments, a high performance control system based on QNX4 and KW-S

  • ftware ProConOS

was realized. Duration of proj ect: 10 months.

slide-26
SLIDE 26

Typical control engineering projects

Development of controls to be used in an explosive atmosphere

Customer: FHF Bergbautechnik GmbH We worked with the customer on the development of a PC-based control system using a 5x68/ 133 for general control applications in mining and for mine air data logging. The control system had to comply with EN50020 and EN60079 respectively. The system was based on the KW-S

  • ftware ProConOS

control platform. Duration of proj ect: 12 months.

slide-27
SLIDE 27

Typical control engineering projects

Development of a redundant diverse control system in line with MRL4/SIL3

Customer: Bartec S icherheits-S chaltanlagen GmbH As certain components had been phased out, the customer wanted to replace an existing control

  • system. The controls were intended for drive systems in mining conveyors. The proj ect including

approval to MRL4 and EN50020 took approx. 20 months. Approval was sought by the customer.

slide-28
SLIDE 28

Typical control engineering projects

Development of a monitoring system for railway vehicles in line with SIL3/4

Customer: Deuta Werke GmbH The customer asked IS H to not publish any proj ect details. IS H developed the microcontroller application and the wiring diagram for fieldbus communication with sensors and actuators. The customer took care of getting approval. Duration of proj ect for the partial system: 14 months.

slide-29
SLIDE 29

Typical control engineering projects

Development of controls for a locomotive braking and drive system

Customer: Friedrich Lütze GmbH We worked with the customer on the development of control equipment in line with EN50128 and S IL0 for railway traction vehicles. In addition, an MVB interface had to be provided for the host computer. Communication with peripheral equipment was realized using two CAN2.0 channels. The system is based on QNX4 and ProConOS software. Duration of proj ect: approx. 12 months.

slide-30
SLIDE 30
