What is “Air Water Heater”?

Like Solar Water Heater works on Sunlight, Air Water Heater works with environmental/atmospheric AIR independently on sunlight. “It is an instrument/concept where the heat from atmospheric air is absorbed, and is transferred to water through the mechanism for water heating using thermodynamic principle, saving up to 80% energy.” or “ It is an instrument which absorbs the heat from atmospheric air and transfers to water through the mechanism for water heating using thermodynamic principle, saving up to 80% energy.” Air Water Heater can extract heat even from Himalayan air i.e. sub-zero temp (up to -30 oC.).

Air Water Heater Operating Cycle

Air Water Heater can be divided in to 4 sections:

  • 1. Evaporation – to absorb atmospheric latent heat/energy
  • 2. Compression – to raise the pressure and temperature of

energy rich vapours

  • 3. Condensation – to release the energy in water and

increase water temperature up to desired temperature

  • 4. Expansion – to convert heating fluid in to ideal cold

fluid Let us see working of each section in next slides:

Evaporation

In a heat exchanger (evaporator) the liquid cooling media draws energy from a heat source, in this case from ambient air and expands with increasing temperature.

Evaporator Heat source

SLIDE 9

www.nespal.in +91 98220 10149 anup@nespal.in

Compression

In a compressor, under the supply of electrical energy, the now gas form (warm) heating fluid will be compressed and heated additionally. The heating fluid leaves the compressor as a very hot gas.

Compressor

Heating Fluid In Vapour Form Heating Fluid In Hot Gas Form

slide-10
SLIDE 10

www.nespal.in +91 98220 10149 anup@nespal.in

Condensation

  • 1. The hot gas now comes into

the condenser releasing heat to the heating system

  • 2. The gas condenses and

leaves as a warm, liquid cooling media from the condenser.

  • 3. During condensation sensible

heat is transferred from gas to water and the potable water is heated

Expansion

  • 1. The warm liquid heating fluid

is transported to the expansion valve

  • 2. In the valve the pressure is

immediately lowered.

  • 3. The temperature drops without

exchange of energy.

  • 4. The cold, liquid cooling media

is fed to the evaporator,

  • 5. The circuit circulation start all

Plusses of Air Water Heater

  • Micro-processor* based control
  • Connectivity* with Aurangabad based server for online monitoring

(under implementation) and data logger

  • Suitable for hard water of any hardness due to in-house developed

heat exchanger

  • System auto cut-off due to any component failure
  • Independent LED’s for individual component & control
  • Possibility of installing Monitoring panel anywhere in the building

(advantageous as system is installed at terrace)

  • Up to 100% hot water availability with Dual Tank Design
  • Low heat losses from hot water tank as the insulation is decided

based on the particular climatic conditions

  • System comes with Fully Charged with Heating Fluid (gas) and no

charging at Site. Can be commissioned in few hours

* in higher capacities

slide-23
SLIDE 23

Adaptability with Existing / New Building

  • Very Compact – 40000 LPD system – 8’ x 5’ x 5’
  • Less weight – 40000 LPD system – 750 kg
  • With Dual Tank design, weight of water/tank can be distributed in

larger areas (the minimum height of tank is just 1.5’ for any size – pl ask us for write up of Tank selection)

  • Due to low height of tank, aesthetics of the building elevation is

maintained

  • End user Cold and Hot Water Connections for any tank capacity can

be customised, from ½” to any desired diameter

  • Power connection up to 60 flat building required is 1 phase and for

above, 3 phase, maximum connecting load (for 40000 LPD system) is 27 kWh, 3 phase

  • Can provide hot water return line without affecting the hot water

availability, thus saving precious water and get the benefit of providing hot water always at tap to your patrons

slide-24
SLIDE 24

www.nespal.in +91 98220 10149 anup@nespal.in

Advantages to Builder/Developer/Society

  • Availability of Terrace / Open Space due to compactness
  • Low cost in Electrical infrastructure – for 60 flat building with

2 nos, 2 kW geyser per flat, connected load is 240 kW whereas equivalent AWH connecting load is JUST 8 kW

  • Due to return line, metering of hot water is possible and

accordingly the individual user can be charged, thus

  • vercoming the unforeseeable arguments
  • Due to low energy bill and round the clock hot water

availability, the users will be happy and in turn the Developer will be benefited for providing the most economical hot water solution
