Water Management • 6 Licenced Discharge Points (LDPs): – Require frequent inspections & sampling during discharge; – Submitted application to EPA September 2013 to add 3 new LDPs to EPL 528;  Charbon required to undertake additional water quality monitoring & submit to EPA;  November 2014 received a revised EPL with 3 additional LDPs. • Since last CCC meeting (24/8/2015 – 21/3/2016) = 536.4mm rainfall • YTD = 231.8mm • Long-term annual average ≈ 684 mm – from BoM station at Rylstone; LDP002 LDP003 LDP004 LDP005 LDP006 Discharges: 1 7 1 16 1 Exceedances: 0 0 0 1 0 • There has been 1 exceedances of EPL528 for water since the last CCC meeting. Water quality will continue to be monitored into the future as per EPL528 Conditions. 3

Environmental Management • Monitoring: data for dust has shown that the mine has been in compliance consistently for > 12 months:  HVAS 2015 – 2016: *Compliant.  Depositional Dust 2015 - 2016: *Compliant  All 2015 results to date have been in compliance. – Air Quality Monitoring will continue as per 2010 Consent Conditions until rehabilitation works have been completed . 11

  14. Environmental Management • Noise Management: – Quarterly noise monitoring conducted during Sep (Q3) and December (Q4) 2015, showed the mine to be in compliance. Noise monitoring for Q1 2016 is scheduled for the week beginning 21/3/2016. – Subsequent to further approvals, mining operations have now been completed at Charbon. Rehabilitation works will continue periodically at Charbon for a number of years. All future mining/rehabilitation/closure operations will be carried out in accordance with the relevant noise criteria of Charbon’s Consent and EPL. 14

Environmental Management • Subsidence management – on-going (Final Surveys); • Land management, including: – Seeding of Southern Open-cut rehabilitation (Stony Creek) – Weed Spraying – Feral animal control – Pigs, Goats; • Review of Site Management Plans, on-going; • Aquatic Ecology Monitoring completed in Spring 2015 and Autumn 2016; • EPBC Approval Conditions – on-site Compensatory Habitat; – Positive Covenant placed over on-site Compensatory Habitat Areas; – Gifted land to NSW NPWS as a SCA; – Compensatory Habitat Monitoring conducted in Oct 2015 by EcoLogical Australia. 15

Rehabilitation • On-going Rehab – Blue; • Blue area requires further shaping and cover with clay and top-soil; • Final landform modelling currently being completed by ‘Earth Technologies’; • Drainage designs currently being completed by ‘GHD’; • Seeding of 2016 rehabilitation areas is expected to take place in October. 16

  31. Community • Since last CCC meeting there has been two (2) complaints; all complaints were from one landholder and in relation to weed management and rehab status. Sponsorship • Various community groups, facilities and events, including: – Charity Golf days; – Kandos/Rylstone Show (major sponsor); – Kandos Street Machine; – Local schools and sporting clubs; – Men's Shed; – Rylstone Street-feast; – Rylstone/Kandos Show; – Wild dog association.
