Group met to discuss the health status of Harford County residents and current organizational structure of community efforts to address health priorities Focus groups were formed and exercises were completed to discuss top health priorities for LHIC to focus on Results revealed a high number of votes for Behavioral Health, Chronic Disease Prevention and Wellness, and Environmental (Family) Stability.

BEHAVIORAL HEALTH CHRONIC DISEASE PREVENTION &WELLNESS FAMILY HEALTH & RESILIENCY Mental Health Substance Use Disorders Overdose Prevention Tobacco Use Prevention Healthy Eating/Active Living & Obesity Prevention Chronic Diseases including Cancer, Diabetes, COPD, Asthma & others Substance- Exposed Newborns ACE Scores/ Trauma Informed Community Transportation Housing
CONCLUSION- Tobacco, Cancer, and Healthy Eating & Active Living work groups merge to form: Chronic Disease Prevention & Wellness

30 people attended from 13 different organizations The chairs (Vickie Bands, Bari Klein, and Susan Twigg) of each of the three partnerships provided context for the merger and activities conducted in previous years Open discussion about common themes

Public health messaging, a common theme from 9/11 meeting, has been further discussed
Health literacy- the degree to which individuals have the capacity to obtain, process, and understand basic health information and services needed to make appropriate health decisions (Health.gov) 9 out of 10 adults lack the skills needed to manage their health and prevent disease (National Assessment of Adult Literacy) Health literacy is a common thread (clinically and non-clinically) throughout each previous work group
