Many families who have fled Burma still live in conditions of poverty and are subject to exploitative work practices in Thailand. Because parents are undocumented, the children remain stateless (without Thai national identification) and do not qualify for free or state-subsidized healthcare and face significant challenges accessing the Thai education system. Some children are orphaned, abandoned, abused or neglected, while others are exploited for cheap labor or become victims of child trafficking

  • By providing a residential home, school and healthcare for stateless children, Children of the Forest

strives to break the cycle of disadvantage and poverty and provide a pathway to a safe, stable and more fulfilling future. OUR APPROACH… involves mitigating risks and promoting empowerment, development and positive opportunities for migrant children OUR VISION… is to empower vulnerable migrant children to build a safe, self-sufficient and fulfilling future OUR MISSION… is to provide protection, education, healthcare and opportunities to migrant Karen and Mon children living in the Thai–Burmese border region of Sangkhlaburi to help break the cycle of disadvantage and poverty

COF Donation Packages – Support a program

These four programs urgently need funding in 2019

Kindergarten and Elementary Outreach Program

COF helps 80 children attend Thai government schools by providing uniforms, food, transportation, a social worker & an outreach worker. Without the assistance, monitoring and security, these children would soon fall out of the education system. It cost $21,000 USD annually to run this program

Migrant Youth High School Sponsorship Program

COF assist 42 older migrant youth starting

  • r already in high school. Your support to

these students will be the difference that enables them to progress and graduate from Thai high school. It cost $13,500 annually to support the youth with transportation, school material, lunch, uniforms, a parent club, admin & insurance

Child Protection Residential Center

The center provides protection and full care to around 120 abused, neglected, abandoned, orphaned or exploited children

  • from infants to young adults. These

children really have no where else to go. The total annual cost to run the protection center is $120,157 (funding shortfall for 2019 is $17,800)

Free School Education Program

Imagine supporting an entire class through 1 life changing year of their education. It cost $7,000 to support 30+ children through 1 year of elementary school. It covers school and teacher fees, transportation, uniforms, learning material, lunch fees and documentation ¡

COF Donation Packages – Support a program

Other programs you can support are…

Support a Teacher

All staff are on small but adequate

  • salaries. A full time teacher receives ~

$3,400 per year

  • Child Protection Center Kitchen

We need lots of rice! ~15,000 kg of rice is required to feed the 300+ children who receive meals from us everyday (about $7,500 annually)

Medical Emergencies

Our medical program often finds children and mothers with life threatening medical

  • conditions. An emergency fund that is in

addition to our regular medical funding helps us save lives. These children have no support from the Thai government. A fund of ~$10,000/ year helps us to provide everything needed for the most serious cases.

Sports Program

Sports help children develop confidence & keep them away from risks of exploitation, substance abuse &

  • trafficking. COF’s sports programs

include football, futsal, and running with

  • ver a hundred children directly involved.

It costs ~$5,000 to run the sports program annually, covering uniforms, equipment and transport. In 2019 we received a grant

  • f $3,000 towards the program for 2019.

Support Our Infrastructure

We always need help to build and maintain classrooms, bedrooms, meeting areas etc. We need help to maintain and run our school bus which is an essential part of our service to stateless children. Water, sanitation and infrastructure

  • improvement. Please contact us.
