Received a

Google Grant to help start a FLL program. Returning back for

3rd

year.

We helped an inner-city community center, Adventures Ahead, teach NXT programming and LEGO Mindstorms to young children and start an FLL team.

UGANDA, AFRICA

Our goal is to start the

1st

FTC team in the community. Returning back for

3rd

year.

We travel to Soroti, Uganda, to the Beacon of Hope School, a school for ex-child soldiers, instructing teachers how to teach robotics and hosting NXT programming and LEGO robotics camps for the students.

FUTURE PLANS

CHAIRMAN’S WORKSHOP

Our team plans to host a Chairman’s Workshop to other teams giving them tips and tricks on Chairman’s submission, presentation, and outreach ideas.

ROBOT DEMOS

We plan to participate in Seattle’s Seafair Annual Celebration and Maker Faire during the summer to demo our robot and explain the FIRST program.

FIRST ADVOCACY CONFERENCE

Some of our team members and mentors will be traveling to Washington DC to participate in the FIRST Advocacy Conference.

LEGISLATURE

We met with Senator Jeanne Kohl-Welles and are planning to meet in Olympia in late April to further discuss funding FIRST.

INCLUSIVE ROBOTICS CLUBS

FOR STUDENTS WITH SPECIAL NEEDS

We are starting an inclusive robotics program to allow students with special needs to gain the same benefits in robotics as their peers. We plan to work with Roosevelt High School, which has several inclusive programs, including Drama and Special Olympics Unified

  • Sports. We will be collaborating with the

schools “Unity Club” and their robotics team, Iron Riders (4180) as we look forward to expanding skills and opportunities for the special education population.
