  2. January 1: Polar Bear Swim English Bay Commissioner Wiebe joined Supervisor of Aquatics Sean Healy, lifeguards and Vancouver residents at the annual Polar Bear Swim at English Bay.

  3. January 12 : Youth Matters Forum and Reconciliation in Action Hastings Community Centre Commissioner Evans and Recreation Services Coordinator Erica Mark attended the Youth Matters Forum. Chair Mackinnon spoke at Reconciliation in Action after the forum.

  4. January 13-14: 2018 Canadian Tire National Skating Championships Commissioners Coupar and Kirby-Yung attended the skating championships.

  5. January 17: Killarney Seniors Centre The Honourable Harjit Sajjan, Minister of National Defence and MP for Vancouver South, joined Vice Chair Evans and Commissioner Coupar for a tour of Killarney Senior’s Centre, which is almost finished.

  6. January 17: Marpole Open house St. Augustine’s Church Chair Mackinnon along with Commissioners Coupar, Crawford, Kirby-Yung, and Evans attend the Marpole open house.

  7. January 23: Burrard Bridge Memorial Braziers Chair Mackinnon and Commissioners Wiebe, Crawford, Coupar, and Kirby-Yung attended the lighting of the Burrard Bridge Memorial Braziers.

  8. January 26: VanPlay Deep Dive Trout Lake Community Centre Chair Mackinnon and Commissioners Evans, Kirby-Yung, and Crawford joined Director of Recreation Donnie Rosa and 150 youth at the VanPlay Deep Dive.

  9. January 27: Rugby World Cup BC Place Stadium Commissioners Wiebe, Kirby-Yung, and Crawford attended a Rugby World Cup qualifier between Canada and Uruguay.

  10. January 27: Tatlow Creek Open House Vancouver Public Library Kitsilano Branch Commissioners Crawford and Wiebe joined Landscape Designer Lehran Hache at the Tatlow Creek open house.
