  3. 1 Goal of the event The " CESBA ALPS – Final Conference " was an event held on May 28, 2019 in Turin (Italy) for the verification of the first assessment tool for the territorial sustainability of alpine areas , at the conclusion of the European project CESBA Alps-Sustainable territories, funded as part of the Interreg Alpine Space 2014-2020 Program with 11 international partners. Final day of a journey started in December 2015, the Turin event was a moment of confrontation on the results achieved, on the difficulties encountered and on the prospects for the future implementation of the CESBA Stt Generic Framework and the other Project tools. The methodology and tools for assessing territorial sustainability have been developed and tested in 9 pilot areas of the Alpine space. The CESBA Alps methodology and tools provided a contribution to the achievement of the 2030 Agenda objectives, the Alpine macro-regional strategy and the Alpine Space Program, defining objectives, targets and monitoring indicators at local level, consistent with the definition of regional strategies of sustainable development. 2 Content of the presentation During the meeting, the Lombardy CESBA STTool and its relations with local and regional urban planning instruments were presented (Session n.2). Lombardy Region, having assessed the very short timeframe imposed by the organization, briefly explained the reasons for the choice of its Pilot area, deriving from the presence of a supra-local territorial plan that concerns the area and the particular sensitivity to environmental sustainability issues as well as from the participatory spirit of the local community. With regard to specific activities, a much more effective and articulated exposition of the results of the cooperation with the CLC of the Pilot area could have been presented. However, mention has been made of the good practices implemented locally in the field of supra-local energy sustainability and sustainable mobility, which testify to the good effects of working in a network. 3 Main Results achieved by the presentation During the day of the result reports by all the PPs, a common line of work was established between the Italian regions as regards the use of CESBA Alps tool in the planning activities at various levels. In particular, various applications in the institutional activity of the assessment tool have been listed, in relation to the Regional territorial plan, the SEA, the Alpine valleys Regional territorial plan. 5. 4 Summary Participation in the final meeting in Turin constituted an important opportunity for the Lombardy Region to exchange views with other PPs on the sustainability of mountain areas, both in terms of consistency with the 17 goals of the UN 2030 Agenda, and the need to measure the environmental performance of the territories, through homogeneous quantification parameters . There are also other aspects of growth in the institutional activity of the Lombardy Region which reside in having effectively involved the local communities in the construction of a CLC for the implementation of a European project, demonstrating how strategic it is for small territories to compare with other European partners.
