CTE Advisory Committee - Rationale
Why: We believe all students, particularly those who are furthest from
- pportunity, should be able to engage in learning that is purposeful, aligned with
their passions, and values their contributions. How: By having hands-on opportunities for students to develop “real life skills,” and develop themselves as authentic problem-solvers. What: School structures and programs that include community connections, career pathways, and internships.
Our Process
Board Presentations (Nov. 1, 2018; Feb. 21, 2019) Program & Economic Workforce Analysis Superintendent’s CTE Advisory Committee (April 24, May 15, Sept. 4) Community Town Hall (August 7) DSHS Staff, Leadership, Counselors (Fall 2019) Data Review BOE Recommendation (December 2019) Course Development Student Recruitment Activities Initial Launch ( Fall 2020)
Team Discussion:
- What do you see?
- What inferences can you make?
- How should this inform our thinking?
How important is a balance of courses for college preparation and career preparation?
Generally, should course offerings provide more depth or breadth?
Would you support a reduction of overall course
- fferings to create sustainable CTE pathways?
Should all students be enrolled in a CTE pathway through completion?
Should DJUSD have a CTE Graduation Requirement?
Should all electives fall into a CTE pathway?
Should core academic courses be integrated into CTE Pathways?
Should CTE Pathways include internship/apprenticeship opportunities?
