  11. What can we do about the proposed development?

  12. Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council have given a six week window for any representations to be raised and logged. The deadline is the 13 th March 2017. The Plan 1) We are currently finalising a representation which we would like to submit on behalf of as many villagers as possible (you can do an individual representation but group ones carry far more weight). 2) Distribute representations to every household in the village. 3) We would like to get as much support behind the representation as possible, with as many households in the village signing it as possible. 4) Collect the representations in by the 6 th March 5) Check and Submit all the forms with a copy of the representation objections by 10 th March.

  13. In addition to this we are liaising with other groups from other communities who are in the same position, and pooling knowledge and information. We are working to publicise the issue with local media to give our campaign wider exposure. Working alongside Save Bulkington Green Belt Facebook Page where we are displaying all documents so that all members of our community can access them.

  14. What are the main issues?

  15. 1) The village does not have adequate infrastructure to cope with up to 2,500 extra people. This includes:- • Roads are to narrow on the proposed access routes to cope with the volume of traffic (contravenes the government directives Manuel for street para1.1.5 and 1.1.6) • Off road parking will increase throughout the village. • Parking in the village centre will become impossible. • Rush hour traffic will increase. 2) Sewerage and drainage systems will be put under stress without significant investment and development. 3) Local Primary schools will need to be made larger, if there is not enough space on the existing site then a new school will be built on one of the new estates. Housing will then replace the existing school sites. 4) Secondary schools will be under more pressure, shortage of teachers in many subjects means that our children will receive inadequate education especially in core subjects, or face being taught by unqualified teachers or larger class sizes.

  16. 5) The village will have insufficient open spaces to meet the recreational needs of the community. 6) No creation of jobs within the village, or any other direct economic benefit. 7)The land selected is designated as green belt, building on this land is in direct contradiction of national strategies, as well as the Councils own strategy on Open Spaces. 8)Noise and visual pollution will be created by the new build houses and the extra traffic they generate.

  17. How can you play your part? You can help by completing and returning the representation form which will be delivered over the next few days. We will do the rest.
