The demand for a non-corrosive paint container has been growing fast with the move from solvent-based paints to water-based paints. The Scandinavian countries have been pioneers in implementation of water-based paints along with their well-known public programs for improved general environmental conditions. Therefore, also the development of suitable Cylindrical and Tapered Plastic Containers for water-based paints, as a substitute to the traditional metal cans, has principally taken place in Scandinavia. For several years, the tapered pail with the outside cover was the only plastic paint container in the market. Basically, because when applying the injection moulding technique, it was a difficult and expensive task to match the metal can design, with its inverted rim and plug-in lid. Some futile attempts have been made to manufacture cylindrical plastic containers with the rim pointing

• inwards. For instance, an approach with collapsible cores proved complicated, expensive, and slow to produce,

and the mould would need regular maintenance. Another approach was to ultra-sonic or spin-weld a separate rim section to the body; but high production costs and big investments have limited the use of this method. BO BOCAN CAN however has succeeded to improve the viability of a solution, by which we mould - as a first step - a cylindrical plastic container with the rim pointing outwards. At any chosen time after moulding and printing of the container, the rim is twisted in a cold-forming operation to point inwards in the container to suit the lid. This unique production method offers several advantages: Firstly: The mould is economic, robust, fast cycling and without moving parts that will need maintenance. Secondly: The production process is simple, as the components must not be moulded to close tolerances, and they don’t need any further assembly operations. Thirdly: Collapsible mandrels are not required on the offset printing machine. Till now, BOCAN Cylindrical and Tapered Plastic Containers are being manufactured in sizes ranging from 750

• ml. and up to 21,000 ml., and they have been patented in many countries, including several countries in the Far

East Region.

can also supply the mould designs and production know-how, including supervision of the acquisition of suitable production machinery and installations, as well as advice on the setting up of an adequate production facility with good production flow that will minimize your production costs. The enclosed photo and drawings will give you a first impression of the product, to which we wish to highlight the following: 1.Our BOCAN Cylindrical and Tapered Plastic Container will substitute the metal can, without any need to substitute the way that metal cans are at present being filled and distributed. You may even use the same labels as for the metal cans.

• 2. It will suit the present paint filling line without any modifications.
• 3. The BOCAN Cylindrical and Tapered Plastic Container will not corrode, neither from the outside nor from the

inside, or after re-closure of the lid.

• 4. It will not dent, meaning a scrap percentage close to zero.
• 5. The body design in one solid piece has eliminated the risk of faulty welded metal cans and has considerably

reduced the production costs.

• 6. The BOCAN Cylindrical and Tapered Plastic Containers will present the water-based paint products or any
• ther products very nicely to the end-users, especially when they are displayed on the shelves in the shops or

super-markets. It emphasizes high quality! While we have basically referred to our products as being most suitable for paint products, we wish to emphasize that the Plastic Containers are, of-course, also suitable for most other products, including food products for the domestic market and for export.

Mould designs - both single- and multi cavity - are available to cover your requirements. On the big containers, a plastic handle has been fixed in such a simple way that it will take you with surprise!
