Data Mining Terra Nova Test Results

Our students took pre-tests in September and post-tests in January. Our first presentation looked at how our district was performing. This presentation is an analysis of how our children are performing in each grade, in each subject, and in our schools. These data will serve as a tool for assisting principals in the school improvement process and for planning targeted professional development for next year. Our goal is continual improvement. We are looking for evidence of growth.

Standardized Achievement Test

  • Measures skills and knowledge that students are

expected to acquire as they progress through each grade.

  • Individual or group scores may be compared with

norms which allow educators to compare achievement results between groups of students.

  • Test results can be used to make comparisons over

time

  • Terra Nova aligned with Common Core and PARCC

Achievement Gap

 For each content area  Reading  Language  Mathematics  District Projection  Given the starting point in grade three, projecting through 6.5  Nation  Grade Equivalent  Achievement is at the performance level typical of students from the national sample at the same grade and month

 GE reflect scores of those children in each grade. These scores do not reflect the same group of students progressing from one grade to another.

Gold Star indicates that scores met or exceeded national target

Gain Score

 This graph displays the difference between the district expectations and the scores for each school in each content area

 Reading  Language  Mathematics

 The zero point is there to show that in some cases, a school might have been below the district growth expectations.
