GREAT NEWS…THAT I CAN’T TELL YOU YET!

Last spring our 3rd – 5th grade students participated in state wide testing and maintained in math and grew in the percentage of students meeting or exceeding standard in ELA!

The initial release day, has been postponed.

GREAT NEWS…THAT I CAN TELL YOU!

88% of last year’s Kindergarten – 2nd grade students achieved end-of-year district benchmark in reading (district = 79%) 80% of last year’s Kindergarten – 5th grade students achieved end-of-year district benchmark in math (district = 73%)

WHAT ABOUT THOSE NOT MEETING STANDARD OR BENCHMARK?

Intervention team that monitors all students who are not at benchmark: Title I teacher, EL Specialist, Counselor, Principal Academic and Social/Emotional Supports are offered in addition to first best classroom instruction Interventions such as:  Leveled Literacy Intervention (LLI), Read Naturally Fluency Lab, Grade Level Math Intervention, Extended day kindergarten, Homework Club, Friend to Friend, individual and small group counseling

ATTENDANCE MATTERS!

17-18 Average Daily Attendance: 95.75% (Increased from 95.2%) 17-18 Chronic Absenteeism (missing 10%+ of school for any reason): 5.78% (Decreased from 11.22%) We have made great progress! Let’s keep up the momentum… It’s NOT about the money – SLCUSD is a community funded school district. It IS about success for all...The research is clear, Attendance Matters!

SUPPORTING OUR FAMILIES

New this year – If you qualify for either free or reduced meals, your child’s snack and lunch are FREE! District Grant – No cost Chromebooks with Internet hot spots are available to be checked out for the year to 2nd – 5th grade students whose families qualify for free or reduced

  • meals. See Mrs. Velte in the front office or Mrs. Wright in the

library for additional information.

Completing the Meal Application helps our school! We receive Title I funding based on the percentage of families that qualify for free or reduced meals.
