ATLAS12A Sensors – Batch II

  • 20 slim dice sensors
  • type: ATLAS12A, batch: VPX12518
  • QMUL provided new jigs to fit our Alessi REL6100 6” probestation
  • chuck. Sensor is held by clamps rather than vacuum
  • Installed 1J1100 protection unit for our WK6440B LCR

LCR built-in protection is adequate against discharge of bias isolation capacitor charged to 500V, but not 1000V. External unit contains fuses as well as gas discharge tubes to protect LCR

Protection unit verified to be transparent to AC measurements at pF level

  • Proceeding with testing of batch II

Sensor IV

  • All 9 tested sensors well within spec
  • 2 sensors did not reach up to 1000 V
  • Generally, currents are very low: < 300 nA @ 1000V

Sensor depletion

  • Uniform behaviour across sensors: depletion around 370 V.
  • Depletion measurement repeated at frequencies between

500Hz and few kHz: no difference in depletion observed (see plot)

Other results, future plans

Full strip tests ongoing:

  • Very low number of defect strips seen

Plans:

  • Continue testing of new batch of sensors
  • Test other properties
  • Get involved with testing of minis
