What’s it all about? • For artists, creative teams and not for profit arts organisations for activities taking place between July 2013 and June 2014 • $21,000 in arts grants available annually in addition to current Council grants • Designed to support the delivery of the Arts and Cultural Strategy & Public Art Strategy • Focus on development of creative, innovative and original art

  3. Who can apply? Ø Individual artists Ø Creative teams Ø NFP and incorporated arts organisations

  4. Assessment Criteria 1. Creativity, innovation and originality 2. Capacity to deliver the concept 3. Capacity for engagement 4. Addressing Council’s vision for arts and culture 5. Project Outcomes

  5. Arts Grant Categories There are four categories of Arts Grants: 1. Community Arts Grants 2. Youth Arts Internship Grants 3. Arts and Cultural Tourism Grants 4. Sharing Cultures Grants

Community Arts Grant • Present a project of any art form to the community • There must be a public outcome for the arts activity in Kingston, and it must be open to all residents to attend or view • Maximum grant request is $3,000 • Example: Yarn Graffiti Documentary Teaser http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=72icK- BED6A&feature=related

Youth Arts Internship • To fund a young artist between 18 to 27 years old to work with a professional artist in a residency or mentorship from 6 to 12 months • There must be a public outcome as a result of the internship • Maximum grant request is $3,000 • Example: Making “The Not Quite White Apartment on Irolo” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xEttUFd8tsk

Arts and Cultural Tourism Grants • To exhibit, stage or produce work in the municipality to attract audiences beyond the municipal borders and raise the profile of arts offerings in Kingston • This grant is open to artists, creative teams and not- for-profit arts organisations outside of Kingston • Maximum grant request is $5,000 • Example: Flashmob ABC3 at Fed Square http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F4dgOzvdGn4

  9. 4. Sharing Cultures Grants • To fund a project that specifically aims to expose, display or encourage engagement between multicultural/indigenous arts groups and the greater community • Maximum grant request is $5,000 • Example: Chooky Dancers http://www.youtube.com/watch? v=9rl9TBOdUH0

  10. More Info… • You can apply for one Arts Grant per funding round • Applications are made on line through Smarty Grants • Applying for an Arts Grant does not stop you from applying for another Kingston grant outside the arts grants • Applications close 30 th September 2013
