Many tombs of Shang kings, queens, nobles and priests have been found. Most of them were raided in past centuries and all their treasures were stolen. One tomb was found intact in 1976 and excavated... The tomb of Fu Hao.

Fu Hao was one of the wives

  • f King Wu Ding. She was his

favourite and even became a military general in his army.

As well as that she was a priestess and could ask the ancestors questions through the oracle bones herself.

Fu Hao had over 2,000 items buried alongside her. Some of the artifacts found included:

  • 755 jade objects
  • 564 bone objects, including nearly 500 bone hairpins and
  • ver 20 bone arrowheads
  • 468 bronze objects, including 130 weapons, 23 bells, 27

knives, 4 mirrors, and 4 tigers or tiger heads

  • 63 stone objects
  • 5 ivory objects
  • 11 pottery objects
  • 6,900 pieces of cowry shell
  • 16 human sacrifices
  • 6 dogs
