Full Proposal Selection Criteria

  • Full proposals will be evaluated on the basis of:

– Potential to address knowledge gaps and contribute to scientific advancement – Clarity and importance of research rationale – Rigor and innovation of design – Relevance of study population – Evidence of access to needed data, settings and study populations – Specificity and appropriateness of data collection and analysis – Research qualifications of the proposed team – Plan for communicating research results – Appropriateness of budget and timeline

Tips for Writing a Strong LOI

  • Outline components of the research project (i.e. research

questions/hypotheses, methodology, design, study population, etc.)

  • Respond to questions included in LOI template.
  • Describe how results can be used to improve population

health or health equity.

  • Limit background description of the problem and its

significance.

Key Take-Aways

  • Funding dedicated to RESEARCH; not programmatic

implementation

  • Investigator‐initiated
  • Themes meant to stimulate ideas, not requirements for

alignment

  • Broad definition of a Culture of Health
  • Evidence generated should be:

– Tied to health outcomes – Action oriented – Scalable or broadly applicable to population health or health equity
