The Animal Task Force (since 2011)

  • A European Public-Private Platform (PPP):

research, farmers’ & industry organizations

  • Promoting a sustainable and competitive animal production

sector in Europe;

  • By fostering knowledge development and innovation in Europe;
  • Covering the whole animal production chain.
  • ATF in close cooperation with

Why ATF?

  • Livestock production is vitally important for Europe’s

future (€130 billion to the EU economy - 35% of the agricultural

sector, employment for nearly 30 million people).

  • In 2050: 9 billion people with increased buying power

and an increased demand for animal products (200 %).

  • Environmental pressure of animal production has to go

down (even if EU livestock sector has already high standards

regarding environmental impact and animal welfare).

  • We need new integrated approaches to increase

production and overcome new challenges. > Innovations in the whole production chain are essential.
