AMATEO – AMATEO – principles principles Active participation in cultural activities should be:  better acknowledged for its importance for art, society and individuals by politicians, bureaucrats, researchers, opinion leaders and professional artists  recognised as worthy of support from national and EU institutions  encouraged by the reduction of bureaucratic obstacles for its importance to society  better respected for its importance in society, for better understanding of the role it can play in development in the EU and worldwide

AMATEO – AMATEO – International Research Conference on the Amateur Arts International Research Conference on the Amateur Arts Objective  To collect quantitative baseline data on levels of active participation in cultural activities across Europe  Six researchers/amateur arts experts from across Europe met in Novigrad/Cittanova, Croatia Oct ’12 Conference outcomes  A research methodology and a generic questionnaire created for use across Europe Next steps  Establish contact with European research organisations with a view to set up pan-European research in the field of the amateur arts

AMATEO AMATEO – initiatives inspired by Amateo – initiatives inspired by Amateo ART – AGE  Successful application to the EU Grundtvig Learning Fund  Denmark, Netherlands, Slovenia, Sweden, UK  2 year project on art based learning and active ageing, completed in April 2014  To provide and put into practice new methods and approaches to document, validate and profile the qualities and outcome of art based learning in relation to active ageing.  Concluding seminar in Utrecht with partner organisations and groups of older learners from each partner nation.
