Prepared By Center for Intercultural Organizing Who are we? We are a Leadership Steering Committee composed of regional advocacy organizations with a commitment to community organizing and engaging grassroots voices in civic engagement. Through community organizing, outreach, education and collective action, we will be activating leaders and informing Washington County’s Aloha-Reedville Study and Livable Community Plan to ensure equitable outcomes for all community residents. Aloha-Reedville Study and Livable Community Plan Center for Intercultural Organizing - Aloha Unite Presentation January 15, 2014 Aloha-Reedville Technical Advisory Committee Activities � Community Education Workshops: Renter’s Rights, Transportation Justice, Affordable Housing, and Latino Business Networking meetings � Community Building Activities: BUILT Game � Community feedback forums � Leadership Development Training � Community Outreach Activities: Canvassing, Phone Banking, and Tabling Events � Latino Business Networking Meetings � Community Gatherings Community Education Workshops Renter Right’s : Conduct public Renters’ Rights presentations to tenants and housing advocates. Participants will leave understand basic tenant landlord law. Affordable Housing : Conduct public affordable housing forums to tenants and housing advocates related to projects planning options. Participants will leave with an understanding of basic housing policies and planning. Community Education Workshops Continue Transportation Justice : Provide a comprehensive curriculum for community workshops to engage residents in a discussion and broader understanding of the intersection between transit, housing and health outcomes. Increase awareness of and demand for an integrated approach that ensures equal opportunity for positive health outcomes. Identify roots causes of injustice related to affordable housing, transit access and air toxics.

What kind of place do you want to call home? Who will benefit from massive public investments? Community Feedback Forums Feedback Forums: Community gathering events to solicit community feedback on study, community options, and action items Open Houses: Hosted events with Washington County to solicit feedback on recommended action items Leadership Development Training Train Aloha Residents: � Understand the structure of Washington County and how it affects the Aloha � Community � Understand how the decision making processes happens in Aloha � Understand Basic Principles of Environmental Justice and Land Use and Planning � Be able to participate in County events regarding the Aloha-Reedville Study and Livable Community Plan � Build new leaders in Aloha

Co-Chairs of CPO 6 Damarise Davis (Left) and Constance Kosuda (Right) Photo credits: Anna Marum/Beaverton Leader Summary � In March we hosted our Aloha Unite kickoff night � From May thru June 5 Renter’s Rights workshops were held � From May thru June 3 Transportation Justice workshops were held � From June thru September 4 BUILT Games were held � In August 2 Affordable Housing workshops were held � From March thru September 7 community feedback forums to solicit specific community input to Study actions items, recommendations and community needs � From February thru November 9 Latino Business network meetings were held � From February thru November we hosted at least 10 Canvassing outreach efforts � Graduated 11 Community Leaders from Aloha Unite’s Leadership Development Training With of all our efforts we reached out over 300 community members!
