Lessard Sams Outdoor Heritage Grant to Acquire 46 acres and ~1,500 feet of f shoreline

  • As discussed at the 2018 Annual meeting of the CLC

we worked with the Northern Waters Land Trust to apply for Lessard - Sams Outdoor Heritage Council Funds to acquire this property and then attach it to the adjacent DNR Wildlife Management Area which is 54 acres making the preserved area a total of about 100 acres.

  • We were successful and have been awarded 90% of

the current asking price = $811,000 from the 2018 Lessard - Sams Outdoor Heritage Council

slide-20
SLIDE 20

What Steps Have to be Completed?

  • A purchase agreement has been reached with the

Trustee and the Northern Waters Land Trust for $703,000. This is $108,000 less than the original asking price.

  • Matching funds of $70,300 will need to be raised by CLC

to complete the transaction by ~November 2019.

  • Any donations from CLC members or others are tax

deductible.

  • We have received over $700,000 from the Lessard -

Sams Outdoor Heritage Council – if we don’t raise the match, this money will be allocated to other projects elsewhere in Minnesota and the property will be marketed for sale to private buyers.
