3rd grade Overview

  • 3rd grade season runs for 7 weeks starting Sept. 16th and ends Nov.5th with no

soccer on Columbus Day weekend (Oct. 7).

  • Grade 3 Girls play Saturday morning at 10:30am (Sprague).
  • Grade 3 Boys play Saturday afternoon at 3pm (Sprague).
  • There is 1 additional practice during the week for grade 3.
  • Games are played 7 v 7 including a goalie
  • 3G have 10 teams and 3B have 8 teams, each with 11 – 12 players per team.
  • End of season evaluations are very important

3rd grade Practice

  • To reserve a field the practice reservation system must be used. System is now

live and ready for booking.

  • Coaches can reserve up to 11 weeks for practice.
  • Please avoid Premier league times: Girls: Tu&Th 3:30-4:40 Boys: M&W 3:30-4:30

Training

  • The trainers will be around the fields on the first week.
  • Coaches can email Roxy to schedule a trainer to come to their practice session if

they would like.

  • Training material: On the Wellesley United website under “Coaches Corner”

– 7 v 7 formation, rules of the game, curriculums, player development matrix and drills to review at the practice sessions How to handle players who can not attend practice

  • Players participate in multiple activities outside of WUSC. Usually 1 - 2 players

cannot attend the practices.

  • If a player can not attend a practice, they can attend practice with another
  • team. Coaches can also offer to meet with the player before game time.
  • Feel free to refer the parent to the grade coordinator.

3rd grade Field Setup

  • Grade 3 Girls set up nets and corner flags on fields 1 and 4

– Arrive at least 30 mins before game time. Goals will be all

  • ver complex due to Friday night practice. Need 2 adults to

set goals up, and need to retrieve corner flags from box.

  • Grade 3 Boys return corner flags to storage box from fields 1

& 4, leave goals in place. – Last players on the field. Refer to pictures on the following slides

Please use grass nets for games, you need 2 people to set up. No sand bags needed. Do not use grass nets

  • n turf fields.

Please use turf nets on turf only. 1 set of turf nets at whole

  • complex. 2 sand bags needed
