  5. About ESMA ESMA as the National Standards Body (NSB) is the SOLE AUTHORITY for Quality, Metrology and Standards and the National Certification Body of the UAE. ESMA was established as the sole standardization body in the UAE under the Law No. 28/2001. The board of directors chaired by H.E. Eng. Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansoori, UAE Minister of Economy and is comprised by representatives of the main parties involved in the standardization of the UAE.

  12. Conformity Assessment Requirements 1. It is prohibited to import or offer a product without EQM Certificate of Conformity, license to use the EQM and the EQM Logo on the product.

  13. Conformity Assessment Requirements 2. For the purpose of the conformity assessment of the product to the mandatory standard specifications, the following must be verified  Ensuring that the product meets all the requirements of this decision.  Submitting certificates to the Authority confirming the supplier's commitment to implement any of the applicable quality management systems globally and that is accepted by the authority, in addition to the application of any food safety management systems or good manufacturing practices (GMP) that are universally accepted and that is acceptable to the Authority.

  14. Conformity Assessment Requirements  Compliance of the product label to the UAE S. GSO standards  Commitment to the Cabinet Decision on the UAE Food contact tools control System.  Transport and storage of the product in accordance with the requirements stated in the approved standard specifications specified in the table attached to this decision.  Commitment to the decision of the Council of Ministers relating the UAE system for Halal products control.

  15. Control and Market Surveillance The Authority or the competent authority shall, as the case may be, control the product in the markets to ensure that the conformity certificate is maintained throughout all supply chain, it shall take any of the following measures: Inspection, sampling of the product and testing them Ensuring that all outlets in the UAE are committed to ban the importation or placing of the product in the local market only after obtaining the certificate of conformity Taking appropriate measures against the product that does not meet the conditions of granting a certificate of conformity or which loses any of these conditions including suspension of trading, withdrawing the product that is not identical from the local markets

  16. Control and Market Surveillance The Authority or the competent authority shall, as the case may be, control the product in the markets to ensure that the conformity certificate is maintained throughout all supply chain, it shall take any of the following measures: ESMA shall obliged the supplier who is responsible for offering the non-conforming product shall withdraw it from the local markets in order to correct the situation within the time period specified by the authority or the competent authority as the case may be Continued implementation of the procedures referred to in this article The supplier who the sample of the product was taken possession shall be responsible for non- compliance with the requirements of this resolution unless proven during the period determined by the Authority or the competent authority, as the case may be Product control shall include all entry points of the UAE to ensure compliance with the provisions of this decree

  17. Transitional provisions A supplier shall be given a period not exceeding one calendar year from the date of publication the decree in the official gazette to conform the conditions of the product in accordance with the provisions of this resolution.
