  • 2. For the purpose of the conformity assessment of the product to the mandatory

standard specifications, the following must be verified  Ensuring that the product meets all the requirements of this decision. Submitting certificates to the Authority confirming the supplier's commitment to implement any of the applicable quality management systems globally and that is accepted by the authority, in addition to the application of any food safety management systems or good manufacturing practices (GMP) that are universally accepted and that is acceptable to the Authority.

Control and Market Surveillance

The Authority or the competent authority shall, as the case may be, control the product in the markets to ensure that the conformity certificate is maintained throughout all supply chain, it shall take any of the following measures:

Inspection, sampling of the product and testing them Ensuring that all outlets in the UAE are committed to ban the importation or placing of the product in the local market only after obtaining the certificate of conformity Taking appropriate measures against the product that does not meet the conditions of granting a certificate of conformity or which loses any of these conditions including suspension of trading, withdrawing the product that is not identical from the local markets

General Rules for EQM

1. After obtaining the Certificate of Conformity, the licensee shall use the Emirates Quality Mark on the certified products. 2. The licensee shall use the mark for sales promotion for the product. It may be used in advertisements and on stationery together with the logo or the name of the manufacturer or the licensee provided that it is not used in such a manner that ESMA may consider as misleading. The EQM Logo may be used on the following:

  • Principal display panel of the certified products
  • Secondary or tertiary packaging whichever is directly visible to the buyer during display
  • Company publicity materials such as brochures, company profiles, reports, exhibition materials, flyers,

banners, roll-ups etc

Technical requirements

The product prepared for the purpose of offering or trading within the State shall meet the following:

  • Requirements of the approved standard specification (UAE.S GSO 9).
  • The explanatory data on the statement card shall meet the requirements of

the standard specification stated in the table attached to this resolution.

  • The images and phrases used on the packaging in which the product is

placed, shall not violate the public order, public morals and Islamic values prevailing in the State.

  • The conformity of the quantity in the package to the requirements stated in

the relevant approved standard specification, as shown in the table attached to this resolution.

  • Packing it in suitable containers in terms of health that does not affect its

  • The validity periods shall correspond to the requirements set out in the

relevant approved standard specifications, which are set out in the table attached to this resolution.
