On going R&S projects

Composite airframe parts and modules

  • Higher performances in composite parts design

and manufacturing (wet and dry carbon fiber, in and out of autoclaves processes).

  • Higher quality (new architectures, new curing

processes) of composite wide components and assemblies.

  • Defects and damage management technologies

and systems (identification procedures and tools, structural impacts, repair technologies).

Propulsion system

  • Innovative energy management systems.
  • More efficient propulsion for challenging UAV

mission (high altitude, long duration).

  • Innovative wide/thin manufacturing

technologies (High Speed machining, cryogenic cut, direct laser metal deposition).

Space technologies and space-based services

  • Design and manufacturing of microsatellite for In

Orbit Demonstration and In Orbit Validation missions

New programmes

Objectives: to develop strategic assets, composed of laboratories, competences and technologies, enabling Apulian, national and European players to cope with future challenges

  • 1. An RPAS Service Center, nested with the Grottaglie Test bed, providing
  • route planning, simulation and mission management for test and experimentation services to RPAS

manufactures

  • Flight (RPAS and payload) data analysis gathering, storing and analysis
  • Service to RPAS manufacturer and operator to demonostrate product performance and monitoring

services

  • 2. Situation Awareness Research and Testing Laboratory
  • A laboratory aimed at research and testing technologies and applications in the field of territorial

situation awareness. The Laboratory will provide services to customize and test and deliver territorial monitoring services through RPAS and satallite.

  • 3. Health Management Technologies
  • A laboratory to develop models, technologies, processes and applications to manufacture smart

products and product lifecycle data analysis
