Students will provide a service to a Kingston organization that involves a vulnerable community Students must commit to work with the organization for at least two semesters SLP must be at a UGME-approved organization

Educational sessions can be lectures, panels, journal clubs, documentary screenings on pertinent global health issues Eligible sessions will be posted on the global health event listing page. If you come across an event that you think will qualify email global.health@queensu.ca and wait for an approval/decline response

Please email global.health@queensu.ca once you've attended an event -- sometimes a volunteer will take attendance at the event and forward to us. You are also required to keep track of your own attendance

MENTORSHIP

MENTORSHIP REQUIREMENTS

reminder: this is optional

THE MENTORSHIP COMPONENT IS OPTIONAL AND INTENDED TO BE A RESOURCE FOR STUDENTS. We recommend that you have a Faculty Mentor, with whom to discuss GH issues. If you do not have a relationship with a mentor, please contact global.health@queensu.ca or the student lead for ideas of possible mentors. Please note: when you complete your placement, you will be required to have a mentor who agrees to debrief with you remotely each week during the placement. You may want to mention this to your potential mentor when establishing your mentorship relationship.

REGISTRATION

The global health enrichment program is self-directed. You have until the end

  • f your undergraduate medical education at Queen's to complete the
  • requirements. It is, however, strongly recommended that you complete the

program prior to clerkship. e-mail global.health@queensu.ca to register for the program In order for it to appear on your MSPR, the AEP must be completed before you begin fourth year.
