  3. Our History � 1965 1st Symposium on Molinology initiated by Dr. João Miguel dos Santos Simões. Molinology as term introduced and defined. � 1973 TIMS founded as a non-profit organisation with cultural and scientific aims www.molinology.org 3 12.08.2012

Definition of Molinology Molinology is the study of mills and other mechanical devices which use the energy of moving water or wind, or the strength of animal or human muscle to power machines for such purposes as hammering, grinding, pumping, sawing, pressing or fulling. More particularly, molinology aims to retain the knowledge of those traditional engines which have been rendered obsolete by modern technical and economic trends. www.molinology.org 4 12.08.2012
