discussing facility dogs & the lack of appropriate standards to fit that work

uGroup of assistance dog training

Organizations & AAI professionals had similar discussions (ADI) in US

2010- ADI Toronto

uInformal meeting turned into a working

group and conducted a survey to assess capacity of AAI within ADI programs.

Results

u29 Questionnaires returned u17 Programs identified placing dogs with

healthcare, educational or other professionals.

uMore than 50% of programs were training

and placing for AAI

settings were “released” from program

u8 of 17 stated they gave handler less than

placement training standards since they were released dogs Mismatch between dog training, placement, & the standards did not quite fit these types of placement
