Mission Statement

“Cr Creating co community for older adults and all they ca care abo about ut in inspire ired by th their ir vis isio ion for r purp rposeful l liv lives”

– Community is at the heart of Collington and is its most cherished asset. – Senior citizens, elderly, etc. are terms that no longer resonate with residents, in particular baby boomers. Research by the Frameworks Institute suggests “older adult” as the most effective descriptor. – In creating community we must care about that which older adults care about. Collington & Kendal’s Shared Values

Collington, as an affiliate of the Kendal System, commits to a shared set of values. But these values aren’t Kendal System values. They are all of

  • urs and the spirit of these

values have been embraced by Collington from the very beginning. The board has reaffirmed our commitment to these values.

Our Founding Philosophy

slide-23
SLIDE 23

Founding Statement of Philosophy

Before even the first brick was laid, Collington established a Statement of Philosophy as a guiding light for all future

  • endeavors. The Board Strategic Planning Committee recommends that the Board preserve this philosophy as

Collington’s Founding Statement of Philosophy so that we may always remember the foundation upon which our community was created. FOUNDING STATEMENT OF PHILOSOPHY (created 1983; revised 2001) “We believe that people in their late years:

  • Can be secure in their surroundings;
  • Can be free from the fear of dependency;
  • Can be independent, creative, and self-fulfilled as long as it is given them to be; and
  • Have purpose and dignity in life and at its end.

We further believe that comfortable living accommodations and a supportive network in a caring community are fundamental to health, happiness and security. Therefore, the Board of Directors of Collington Life Care Community will:

  • Welcome older people of all races and religions, within the broadest possible range of financial means;
  • Provide a physically and emotionally secure environment offering the widest range of services for their varying

needs – social, intellectual, medical and spiritual;

  • Deliver these services attractively and efficiently in a campus-style setting; and
  • Develop relationships among residents and staff characterized by mutual respect,

consideration, trust and honesty.
