Biofuel diesel production requires copra raw material and delivers copra-meal to feed livestock, including chicken and pigs.
Low productivity of labor results in limited copra supply, especially due to the time and effort required to obtain wood for copra drying. Poor working conditions and wood smoke health hazard points to a need for alternatives to wood fired copra drying. Villagers want the income from selling copra. CMFL is a ready buyer to meet strong demand in coconut oil export markets.
Nikua is preparing to ship our first design of transportable, solar powered copra drying equipment to the Nikua - University of the South Pacific Biofuel Field Engineering Laboratory, located at the USP campus in Suva Fiji. From this start we can validate issues like cycle time and product quality, while seeking feedback from Copra Millers of Fiji, the Fiji Development Bank, and village customers for copra production equipment. www.nikua.org
Transportable, solar powered copra drying equipment is made from lightweight & corrosion resistant aluminum. The kit will ship as a flat-pack for easy on-site assembly.
