Trimester and Daily Schedule

  • There are 6 blocks in a day, each block is 60

minutes long

  • We have 3 lunches A,B,C
  • School time is 8:00am-2:50pm
  • Tuesday and Thursday we have flexible

learning time.

Graduation Requirements

As a freshman in the graduating class of 2021 you will need:

  • 12 English Credits
  • 11 Social Studies Credits
  • 9 Science Credits
  • 9 Math Credits
  • 2 Art Credits
  • 1 Health Credit (can be taken in 10th grade)
  • 1 Intro to PE class (can be taken in 9th grade)
  • 1 Career and Technical Education course
  • 18 Electives
  • Total of 64 credits

What Happens When You Get an F

  • If you get an F, you will need to repeat the

class or make it up in night school or summer school.

  • Make sure to keep track of your grades and
  • transcript. You don’t want to have to take a

freshman level course as a senior.

LINK CREW FIRST DAY

  • Each freshman student will be assigned two

link crew students that will be your “mentor” for the year.

  • They will have a locker near you and will be

able to answer any questions you may have.

  • The first day freshman and link crew members

are the only students that come until 12:00pm. They are given a tour, enjoy games and activities to get their nerves out

HONORS INTRO TO LITERATURE (pending School Board approval) Weighted GPA

This rigorous and in-depth course provides a transition from the middle school to the high school academic environment. This class will focus on introducing students to American and British Literature through poetry, short stories, novels, and drama. Therefore, students will read regularly. Students will also continue to build their writing skills through regular writing, grammar, and vocabulary activities and be introduced to various methods

  • f interpreting the media.

Students who register for this course will be vetted by a committee of teachers who will determine if the intensity and rigor of the course is in the student’s best interest.

○ Food Science

○ Food Science is designed to reinforce and enhance the student’s knowledge of scientific principles and processes through the study of foods and nutrition. An in-depth understanding of science as it applies to foods will assist students with interest in career and technical education, to understand the food industry as well as food preparation in their daily lives. Whenever possible, students should be involved in hands-on laboratory activities which verify the scientific concepts presented.

Students will be learning to use elements and tools of current and emerging technologies to create. Students experience a variety of approaches and to design including using media of Adobe Creative product software. Photography, digital design, and video may be

  • explored. In this class students consider how the characteristics of themes in history and cultural context of story and narrative contribute to

the creation of media expressions. Students will capture images and explore multi-media approaches to visual communication. Original expression of feeling, mood, and content through projects of their own choice will help develop their personal vision as student artists. Students read and respond to printed media, and to criteria- elements such as image, space, and time,as they combine to create meaning. The creative process of using multiple sources to create original pieces of media art is practiced.

○ AP STUDIO ART: 2D DESIGN (Pending College Board Approval) ○

The AP course is a cooperative endeavor that assists high school students in completion of college level course work. This course is foremost centered in the media arts of black and white film photography and digitally edited photographs. Highly motivated students will integrate tools, materials, and techniques to create a portfolio of original photographs. The media uses properties of light, chemistry, electronics and optics. STEM learning continues here while preparing students for success in the creative economy. Design thinking, discussion and critiques help students revise creative work based on artistic intent and multiple sources of feedback.
