  6. Crime Review The following data reviews police crime data generated in and around the OERF area. Although this data is useful for future operational planning the following should be considered: • While SAPS keep various policing precincts as separate, criminals do not contain their actions to these boundaries. Various stations often do not collaborate on cases, they may therefore have dockets open for the same suspects on both sides of the precinct borders without being aware of this fact. A comparison of both precincts is therefore necessary. As demonstrated below the two precinct are quite different. • The data provides an understanding on a macro scale. It is not possible to use the data to isolate hot spots, sectors or streets that are more or less affected by crime; increases in crime therefore do not necessarily reflect an increase in OERF. It also excludes incidents that are not reported to the police. Security companies are often called to attend to minor incidents that residents then do not report to SAPS. The following data focuses on residential crime only. We have excluded other reported crimes, such as fraud and narcotics.
