  7. Aims  Develop and implement an interdisciplinary EBP and Research program  Develop a culture within nursing and other health care professions where clinical practice is based on research evidence

Methods  Evidence-Based Practice (EBP) Assessment Survey administered to 203 Nurses and other Healthcare professionals – Organizational Readiness for System-Wide Integration of EBP – Beliefs about EBP – Implementation of EBP  Grant-funded 6-month EBP and Research education program was provided – JCLHN Foundation Grant GD0312-202026  EBP post survey will be administered December 2013

Key Aspects of EBP Curriculum  Distinguish between research conduct, research utilization and EBP  Describe barriers/facilitators to conducting EBP  Present 5 steps of EBP  Identify key models of EBP  Identify key points in conducting a literature review  Identify levels of evidence  Identify searchable databases  Discuss strategies to promote EBP in nursing practice

  15. Limitations • Grant funding for only 8 Fellows • Difficulty getting off of units to attend class • External IRB process

Bottom Line  Interest in Research and EBP among Nursing staff and other health professionals  Fellowship program effective in facilitating projects house wide  Fellow projects demonstrate efficacy of identification of clinical practice problems and improving processes and subsequently patient outcomes
