Prehistory started when humans first appeared. Ancient History started when people invented writing. The Modern Age started when the French Revolution happened. The Early Modern Age started when Columbus discovered America. The Middle Ages started when the Roman Empire fell.

Periods of history The Paleolithic Period

The oldest and longest period in Prehistory is the Paleolithic Period. Paleolithic people were nomadic because they went from one place to

  • another. They hunted and fished to get food. During this period people

discovered how to make fire. Paleolithic people lived in caves

  • r huts made of tree branches

and animal skins. Paleolithic people made tools from stone, wood and animal bones.

The Neolithic Period

The Neolithic Period was the beginning of agriculture and trade. Neolithic people cultivated crops, raised animals and exchanged

  • products. They discovered how to cultivate plants from seeds.

People became sedentary and lived in huts in villages.

The Bronze and Iron Ages

The Bronze and Iron Ages was the discovery of how to make objects from metal. First they used copper, then bronze and then iron. People invented the wheel and lived in villages. There they could do more jobs, like artisans, farmers, metalworkers or traders.
