Governing Council

  • The Governing Council was created from the University of Toronto

Act, 1971, and was established in 1972.

  • The Act, is a key document that guides governance and

administration of the University. It outlines the composition of the Governing Council, provides definitions of groups of members of Governing Council, and explains how members should be assigned to seats.

  • The Act outlines the authority and power of the Governing Council,

which includes:

  • Approval
  • Oversight
  • Advice
