MRHA Legislative Committee • Receive updates on the Maryland General Assembly Legislative Session (budget and bills) • Help develop advocacy priorities for MRHA that supports rural communities across the state • Engage with elected officials and staff on rural health issues • Participate in the legislation process and be the rural voice during committee considerations • Provide guidance and help determine MRHA’s position on legislation that may have an impact to rural communities • Conference Calls are bi-weekly during the Legislative Session (January – March) and planning meetings over the interim

MRHA’s 2 nd Annual Legislative Forum • Held in partnership with the Community Health Resources Commission on January 23 rd at the Miller Senate Bldg in Annapolis • MRHA honored Senator Addie Eckardt with the 2018 Outstanding Rural Health Legislator Award • Details for the 3 rd Annual Legislative Forum in January 2019 coming soon! Shown at left: Senator Middleton, 2017 winner, with Senator Eckardt, and Jennifer Berkman, MRHA Board Member from the Eastern Shore AHEC.

  16. 2018 Maryland Rural Health Plan  Collaborative project with:  State Office of Rural Health, MDH  Rural Maryland Council  Robert Wood Johnson Foundation  Focus groups were conducted in each of the 18 rural counties across Maryland – providers and consumers  Implementation Plan coming soon!  Highlights several programs directly addressing community needs pulled from the Recommendations section
