#07 – NELSON PIQUET JR SH Racing Rallycross #11 – SVERRE ISACHSEN Subaru Rally Team USA
The son of a legendary Brazilian F1 Champion, it goes without saying that Nelson Piquet Jr has racing in his blood. He’s spent 2 years driving with the Renault F1 race team, snatched 4 NASCAR victories within only a few short seasons and is the first non-American driver to win on an oval and become Brazil’s first NASCAR winner. In 2013, Piquet made his GRC debut at X Games Brazil and this year, returns with team Ford, equipped with the best and most proven machinery in the sport. Racing only in GRC in 2014 and finishing just shy of a podium finish at the 2014 GRC season opener in Barbados, he earns his place as one of the most anticipated drivers of the season.
.
Coming into his third season with GRC, the Norwegian GRC veteran is poised for big things in 2014. After a slow start to the season in Munich in 2013, Isachsen still reliably ran in the top five in many of last year’s events and proved to be the best driver in the series not running a Ford. Armed with a new car, a leaner team, and two years’ experience of running a different style of rallycross, the three-time European champion should be a threat to earn his first Global Rallycross victory this season. A door-to-door tussle with Ford racer, Piquet Jr in the 2014 season opener in Barbados proved Isachsen’s style of driving to be a crowd favourite and that he will be one driver to watch in 2014. . 2014 is Patrik Sandell’s season to shine. Championships aren’t foreign to the Swedish veteran; after all, he won the 2006 Junior World Rally title and in 2013, he earned podium finishes in GRC Brazil and New Hampshire. But with many of the series’ top drivers switching teams for 2014, Sandell’s familiarity could be a huge asset. With both former Olsbergs MSE teammates, Tanner Foust and Toomas Heikkinen leaving OMSE, Sandell moves up the totem pole to become one of its key championship threats. In short, he’s a dark horse championship contender simply by having stayed in a proven winning situation.

No other name is more synonymous with rallycross in America than Tanner Foust. After discovering rally racing in Scotland at a young age, Foust has gone on to win 3 US Rallycross Championships, 4 X-games gold medals and currently holds the GRC records for the most points and most podiums of all- time. After 2 GRC Championships with team OlsbergsMSE, Fourst will suit up for Andretti Autosport in 2014, racing the Volkswagen Polo and the Volkswagen Beetle. Andretti enter their maiden season with the best driver they could have asked for and if you’re betting on a new partnership to take the title in 2014, this is where to put your faith.

Podiums and points are nice, but Brian Deegan is all about winning. In 2014, the man with multiple X Games medals in both Moto X and Rally Car Racing wants more, expects more from himself, and plans to deliver. 2013 was an up-and-down season for the racer known as “The General,” and a nightmarish second day in the Las Vegas finale that saw him end the year with a season-worst 13th place finish. In 2014, Deegan will be racing for his pride. Anyone who knows what kind of driver he is, especially when he’s motivated, should be wary of seeing the warplane-themed Fiesta in their mirrors this year.
#38 – BRIAN DEEGAN TBA
After a dominant season in 2013, Ken Block finally added a Red Bull Global Rallycross victory to his trophy case last year, finishing an impressive 3rd overall in the Championship. Block did plenty to establish himself as a perennial front-runner in his first two seasons in the sport though. He earned a silver medal at X Games Los Angeles in 2012, and added two more podium finishes in the first eight races of 2013. Block’s confidence in his car is unwavering, and knowing what it takes to make it last through the end of the event is a big step forward for him and his Hoonigan Racing Division team. Anything is possible for Block in 2014.
#43 – KEN BLOCK Hoonigan Racing Division
Red Bull Global Rallycross fans won’t see as much of Travis Pastrana in 2014 as they did the past two years, but rest assured: the fan favorite will be a threat to win this year. After a whirlwind two years that saw Pastrana chase stock car dreams while simultaneously running his own rallycross operation, he’ll take a step back to tour the world with his family as part of the Nitro Circus Live show and run stage rally. In a move guaranteed to please the sport’s longtime fans, he’ll do it behind the wheel of a Subaru WRX STI.

Nicknamed “Mad Skills” for his precision behind the wheel, Rhys Millen is one of the most consistent and reliable drivers in this years GRC. The stunt car driver whose worked on multiple film and television projects, has been with the series since it’s inception and hasn’t finished outside the top 10 since 2011. In 2012, his two-car operation had been
- ne of the most competitive of the season
and a second place finish in the manufacturer’s championship for Hyundai. But forced to sit out most of the 2013 seasons means this driver will be out to prove himself. The Rhys Millen Racing team has always been one of the best in the business and will be a likely dark horse in 2014.

#67 – RHYS MILLEN Hyundai / Rhys Millen Racing
This season Scott Speed returns to GRC fronting
- ne of the most prestigious seats in the
competition — an Andretti Autosport Volkswagen Beetle. The Andretti’s name is synonymous with US F1 history and equally as impressive are Speed’s motorsport credentials - spending 3 years with the F1 Scuderia Toro Rosso team before moving his focus into running at NASCAR’s highest level. The pairing of Speed and team owner Michael Andretti is an interesting one - both came from an
- pen-wheel background and are the last two US
drivers to have raced in F1. Add factory backing from Volkswagen and Foust as a teammate and Speed’s set to add a GRC championship to an already impressive trophy shelf. A 1st place finish in the season opener in Barbados, is just a sign of things to come from this prestigious partnership.
#77 – SCOTT SPEED Volkswagen Andretti Rallycross
Winning 12 X-Games medals in Skateboarding, just isn’t enough for Bucky Lasek, as he sets his sights on GRC glory once again in 2014. Having driven for the same team since his very first GRC event in 2012, his tenure with the same operation is one of the longest in the
- sport. Making use of that will be crucial as stars
like Tanner Foust and Scott Speed get acclimated to different vehicles and surroundings. The good news? With a new car, two quick teammates in Pastrana and Sverre Isachsen, and the ultimate confidence of his team, the podium seems to be firmly within Lasek’s grasp.
#81 – BUCKY LASEK Subaru Rally Team USA #27 – EMMA GILMOUR Hyundai / Rhys Millen Racing
In 2014, Emma Gilmour will become GRC’s first female driver. As significant as that is for the series, it’s Gilmour’s skill behind the wheel that should start to make headlines pretty quickly. Frequently one of the top drivers in the New Zealand Rally Championship, Gilmour earned the ranking of world’s best female rally driver in 2010. Gilmour will be part of an impressive GRC rookie class that also includes defending GRC Lites champion Joni Wiman and former K&N West Series Rookie of the Year Austin Dyne. With her background, she has a good chance at beating them both in this year’s standings.
