 Explore the potential for a more “people focused” provision of services in terms of routine maintenance programmes, starting with the adopted stretch at Thwaite Mills  Begin to develop a sustainable social economic model related to the waterways environment that will engage more people with the waterways in line with the Interreg IVB, Green and Blue Futures research (CRT lead partner) – this needs to have a diversified business focus, which is also being developed during the Stewardship School pilot (eg: social enterprise, joint funding bids, etc.)  Develop an Heritage Canal Zone between Thwaite Mills and Armley Mills, linked to Leeds industrial heritage to kick start both a “museum without walls” and a “classroom without walls” as an educational, cultural and tourism destination; bringing life to and both social and economic engagement with the waterways  Use the Zone, through the school, as a fulcrum for engaging different communities of interest across the region by actively linking CRT educational, cultural and economic activities more closely with the needs of young people and their communities  Use the Zone, through the school, as a fulcrum for engaging business across the region (starting with those who will have school connections) by clearly linking CRT developments more closely to their needs as employers
