Registration on Race Day Time Item Remarks 5.00 am Breakfast OBS camp 1 Dining Hall 5.30 am Team Registration All team members must be present Body Marking All team members will be body marked Equipment Check Final equipment check and HP checked 6.30 am Issue of Map & FYP bags Maps will be issued 30 mins before flag off @ expedition Court Camp 1 7.00 am FLAG OFF! OBS camp 1 (All timings are dependent on weather)

Rules & Regulations – During Race • Teams of 3 members complete and run through the course together. • All team members MUST start, finish and STAY TOGETHER throughout the race and be separated by no less than 100 metres in distance between the first and last member . • Teams must be self-sufficient. No external support is allowed during the race. • Teams must travel only on the designated race route, marked by ROAR tape, given map or as directed by race officials & road marshals.

Rules & Regulations – During Race • Teams must race through all the Checkpoints in order of sequence in the passport • Should a team miss a Checkpoint, they must make their way back to the missed Checkpoint. • Teams are to follow instructions given by the volunteers and the road markers on the course of the race. • Teams will be disqualified if they do not follow the rules. Especially traffic road rules ! And anything that compromises safety ! • Keep to the left !!!

Rules & Regulations – During Race • All mobile phones brought along during the race will be sealed and inspected • All mobile phones brought along during the race are at their own discretion and risk. • Uses of any electronic navigation devices (GPS) are strictly not allowed during the course of the entire race.

Race Equipment - Personal No Compulsory Personal Equipment 1 Whistle 2 Running Shoes 3 Min 1.5 litres of Water 4 Energy Muesli Bars/ Gel /Food (sufficient for at least 6 hours) 5 Mobile Phone (sealed & waterproofed) 6 Personal Helmet (if you choose to bring your own bike) 7 Bag (to keep your gears while racing) No Recommended Equipment 1 Full-fingered cycling gloves

Race Equipment - Team No Compulsory Team Equipment 1 Base Plate Compass 2 Pen/ Pencil 3 First Aid Kit (refer to next slide) 4 Ziploc Bags – for waterproofing of maps, race passport etc.. 5 Hand Pump (for Bike) No Recommended Team Equipment 1 Paper for note taking 2 Fine-tipped, waterproof permanent marker 3 Spare bicycle tubes*

Race Equipment – First Aid Kit Recommended Items • 2x Triangular Bandages • 5x Plasters • 1x Muscle Rub/Deep Heat Rub/Spray • 5x Alcohol Swabs • 1x Antiseptic Cream • 1x Medicated Oil • 1x Roll Bandage • 1x Surgical Tape • Cotton Wool/Cotton Buds * Please ensure that the first aid kit is waterproofed with 2 ziploc bags or a combination of 1 ziploc bag and 1 small drybag. This will prevent water from damaging the items so they can be used in case of an emergency.

  19. What to Wear? • Tights • Comfortable T-shirt • Bandanna/ cap • Sunnies • Covered shoes WITH SOCKS • Rain jacket / poncho ** Use Vaseline for areas that are likely to get abrasions

  20. Foot care During an adventure race, your feet are at risk of: • Blisters, abrasions and other foreign bits • ‘Hamburger foot’ – Wear well-fitting socks – Avoid cotton socks ** Use Vaseline!

  21. The well-dressed Adventure Racer Hat or cap. Keeps sun out of eyes and Hi, I’m an Adventure Racer. Really. Now I’m all ready to race. Where’s the scalp unburnt. Good idea. Let me show you what I wear on races! Thanks. Now I’m really ready! Vaseline though….. T-shirt. Synthetic quick drying. Does not hold sweat like camels hold water. Fitting shorts. Not too short. Not too long. Tights are good. Tights should be tight, not loose. Socks. Try to avoid cotton. See reasons above. Shoes. Well fitted. Should look like they can complete race with you in one piece.
