Initiatives taken up by NMCG

• “One City One Operator” - STPs in 7 towns (Kanpur, Allahabad, Mathura, Patna,

Kolkata, Howrah-Bally, Bhagalpur) are being integrated & tendered with Hybrid Annuity based projects – 4 already tendered during this period (Kanpur, Allahabad, Mathura & Kolkata)

• Focus on 10 major towns contributing almost 64% of total sewage discharge.
• Total STP capacity- 1109 MLD is being created at a cost of ฀ 9883 Cr in these

towns

• Performance evaluation of existing STPs completed in Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh and

Bihar.

• Project Engineers for Haridwar and Varanasi projects appointed by NMCG
• Annual inspection of GPIs through technical institutions in a time bound manner.
• Close monitoring of milestones. Field visits increased.
• Regular Follow-up with State Agencies
• Upcoming projects on tributaries- 68 towns in 7 states on 31 tributaries

Upcoming Projects on Tributaries

Decentralised Treatment of 20 drains in 15 cities through Modular Treatment System

• 20 drains which are not covered in sewerage projects have

been identified

• Pollution flowing in 20 drains in 15 cities (about 60 MLD) to be

contained & treated using modular STPs,

• First of its kind offered on services contract model and include

removal of trash, solid waste and pollution load.

• Bhudana, Muzaffar nagar, Gajraula, Moradabad, Hapur,

Gulaothi, Kasganj, Unnao, Bhadohi, Kunda in UP and Titagarh, Jangipur, Champdani, Chandannagar and Belur in West Bengal.

• Tenders on services model are under process
• Award of work by May’2018 end.
• Modular STPs are ready to install tailored systems and will be
• perational in six months time.
• After successful response to the tenders, the model will be

replicated in other untapped drains.

Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation has taken up construction of IHHLs, liquid waste management for all 1662 Gram Panchayats.
