 Trade disputes between the USA and China are affecting the machine tool business.  US punitive tariffs on Chinese imports impact on a wide range of machine tools.  German manufacturers producing in China for the US market are directly affected.  Customs duties are also affecting global sourcing.  The German automotive industry, which produces for the USA in China, is particularly vulnerable.

Free trade

Free trade is vital for our lives.

» Our economic strength and, thus, our prosperity depend on free trade. » Without free trade we could not export the products manufactured in Germany – and millions of jobs would be lost here.

The increase in prosperity in many countries throughout the world would not have been possible without free trade. VDMA Free Trade Bar in Hall 1
