Model Hotel Suite for Silver Hair Market at T Hotel of VTC

  • The T Hotel is part of Hong Kong’s Hospitality Industry Training and

Development Centre (HITDC) of VTC

  • It provides authentic training environment and trains up to over 2,000

students each year

  • It provides accommodation of 30 rooms and is operated by trainees under

the supervision of experienced professionals from various fields of the hospitality industry

  • An 82-year-old lady, Ms. Susan Partridge, coming from Oxford to

Hong Kong for accommodation at T Hotel in 9/2013

  • Due to the short notice of her stay, we immediately made short-

term arrangement at the hotel suite to cater for her needs

Silver Economy Business Opportunities Report compiled by Ageing Asia of Singapore was released in March, 2014

According to a survey on The Consumable Behavior of Silver Hair Market by Hong Kong Alliance of Silver Hair Market in 2010:

  • 40-60% of the interviewees had shown great

interest in participating in leisure activities including travel, sports, shopping and dining

US$3,000 on travelling

  • A cross-discipline project in collaboration with Engineering,

Design, Information Technology and Hotel Disciplines

  • An Elder-friendly Design Campaign will be launched and

students of VTC will be invited to design a model hotel suite for the elderly

  • The best design of the model hotel suite will be chosen and

adopted for the model hotel suite at T Hotel

important in the suite

  • 25% reflected that they were NOT pleased with the

accommodation experience. They complained against:  Suite Quality (26.8%)  Facilities (21.1%)  Services (18.4%)
