The Regenesis Building System

RC² was established in Johannesburg in 2013 to provide an eco-friendly, more affordable and sustainable building solution with added social and environmental benefits. The Regenesis building system is approved by the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS) and the National House Builders Registration Council (NHBRC). It is the ideal building system to use in construction of subsidized and bonded single and double storey houses as well as upmarket housing estates. RC² is manufacturer and supplier of the REG range of container based brickworks allowing the production of compressed cement stabilised interlocking masonry bricks to build high quality structures at a reduced cost compared to traditional building systems; while superceding all relevant standards in the construction industry. The Regenesis interlocking brick presses are an eco-friendly and cost-saving alternative to conventional cement brick and block machines.

SABS reports – South African Bureau of Standards

The brick has been rigorously tested and approved by SABS:

  • The load resistance of the walls exceeds the SABS requirements.
  • Compression tested.
  • Water absorption tested and Water resistance/weather proofing tested.
  • Fire Protection tested.
  • The Thermal resistance & Insulation of the building system exceeds SANS 204 part 1

“Energy efficiency in building”.

  • The Acoustical insulation of the building exceeds the international standard by 10 Dbs.

The Regenesis interlocking bricks have been approved by the highest South African standard for building houses, school buildings, shops, clinics, community centers, police stations…

The bricks consist of building sand, cement (8%), water (9%) and proprietary additives to guarantee waterproofing and sand adhesion, which are compressed in a manually operated press with a moulded LEGO form that allows the bricks to be dry stacked without the need of mortar between the bricks.

Advantages:

  • The mixers and presses operate without electricity, diesel or hydraulics.
  • Zero carbon emission and no down time due to mechanical breakdown.
  • Based on South Africa costs, the Regenesis building system allows a cost

saving up to 25% per square meter compared to any traditional building systems.

  • No mortar needed between the bricks; steel reinforced concrete columns tie

the walls, foundation and roof together - Superior resistance to earth quake.

  • No need to chase the walls for electrical and plumbing; the natural conduits of

the bricks are used to reticulate wiring and piping.

  • Uses less cement and water.
  • Bricks are produced within or near the building sites.
  • Bricks are fully waterproofed using a proprietary polymer.
  • It is not necessary to plaster and paint the walls; attractive and architecturally

high quality product that is aesthetically pleasing; neat face-brick finish.

  • All damaged bricks can be crushed and recycled - no wastage.
  • Bricks can be made out of waste material e.g. mine dump sand.

The Regenesis building system: Easy, fast, strong, aesthetically pleasing and cost effective.

 Speed of building.  No mortar between the bricks.  30 Mpa reinforced concrete columns within the structure offer superior resistance to earth quake.  No electricity, diesel or hydraulics used to press the bricks.  Presses are easy to operate and built to last.  Uses less water and cement.  No need to chase the walls for electrical and plumbing. What makes the Regenesis building system stand apart from other traditional building systems in our industry? It is about major cost savings per m², speed of building, high quality finished product, strength, reliability and durability.

A traditional strip footing or a raft foundation can be used depending on the specifications of a structural engineer. The compression operator pulls down on the lever exerting ± 12 tons of pressure resulting in a brick with a load bearing between 8.5 and 12.5 Mpa. The bricks are ready for construction 5 days after production.

slide-15
SLIDE 15

The bricks are dry stacked one on top of the other and the build progresses very quickly. Y12 steel rebars are positioned in selected bricks and filled with concrete, creating 30 Mpa steel reinforced concrete columns within the structure.

No mortar needed between the bricks; wall erection is faster allowing to build a quality structure faster than with conventional bricks and mortar.
