  4. Uniform Every child is expected to wear the correct uniform every day. Children should be smart and tidy with shirts tucked in and ties on straight. Please remember to put your child’s name in jumpers so they are not lost. Uniform Checks. If your child is missing a piece of uniform they will on the first occasion be reminded to wear it the next day. On the second occasion it is not correct a slip will be sent home letting the parent know which piece of uniform was missing or incorrect. On the third occasion the class teacher will speak directly to the parent. If it is still incorrect, then a member of the senior leadership team will contact the parent.

  5. PE Kit PE kits should be in school from the first day of a new term and left in school till the end of each half term. All children are required to take part in PE as it is part of the National Curriculum. Schools are expected to teach the children a range of skills to help support them to lead healthy lives. Please make sure all PE KITS ARE LABELLED, as it is hard to locate missing clothing with no names. No jewellery to be worn, so children will need to be able to take earrings out themselves.

  6. Swimming When a class takes swimming lessons, this will be their P.E for that term. Autumn term (September- December)- 3A and 3D will go swimming. Spring term- there will be no swimming, all classes will have normal P.E lessons. Summer term (April- July)- 3B and 3C will go swimming.

  7. Attendance 1. Attendance is expected to be at 97% 2. Parents/Carers will be called 3. Letter home 4. Asked to meet with class teacher 5. Meeting with Deputy Headteacher and SENCo 6. Home Visit 7. Fine / Court

  8. Behaviour We expect every child to come to school with the intention of learning and be punctual every day. We expect every child to have a high expectation for their learning and for their behaviour. We expect every child to take pride in their learning, their school and each other. We expect all children to adhere to the Rights and Responsibilities within school through the Eastbury Values and the British Values.

  9. British values are: Democracy; • The rule of law; • Individual liberty; • Mutual respect; • Tolerance of those with different • faiths and beliefs and for those without faith.

  11. Rewards House points will continue to be used, but will have a re-launch this year with new house names. Children will be told their new houses by their teachers. Respect points will continue with the winning classes announced in the celebration assembly each week.

Educational Visits Term 2 – Chocolate factory in Shoreditch £5 per child Term 4 – Eastbury Manor house- planting Term 5 – The British Museum- ancient Egyptians Term 6 – The Science Museum- It takes guts workshop £5 per child These trips are provisional and are subject to change. All trips will be confirmed to parents by a letter home within the term of the trip.

  16. Trip Volunteers If you would like to help on any trips, please let your child’s class teacher. Fill in the volunteer part at the bottom of trip letters. If we receive more volunteers than needed we will draw the names out of a hat. We will then be in contact with you. When you volunteer for a trip, you will be given a group to look after for the duration of the trip within the whole class, ensuring the school procedures and expectations are carried out throughout the day. No spending money is needed on trips unless stated in the letter for the specific trip. If you are chosen to attend a trip there will be a pre trip meeting to ensure procedures, protocols and plans are discussed.

  18. Homework at home, how you can help. Reading – 15 mins Please make sure reading is carried out EVERY DAY and a parent signs the book. Your child will then earn 5 house points for their house each week.

  19. Homework cont…… Your child will also bring home:- Spellings –handed out every other Thursday. The children will have 2 weeks to learn these and will have a short test on the second week. Children must practice these spellings in their homework book, looking up the meaning of words and writing them in a sentence. Your child will have a piece of maths and English homework each week. The Maths homework could be :- Going over learning from the lessons in class. Problem solving. General maths skills.

  20. Homework cont…. Maths :- Times Tables Children will need to practice their times tables regularly, so they are fluent in recalling them. It is important for children to be able to work their times tables out, but also important to recall them at speed. Tables are the base of many calculations and knowing them at speed helps them to work faster and work calculations our quicker as a speed test will be introduced this year by the Education Department.

  21. Homework cont…. The English homework could be :- Going over learning from the lesson. A grammar exercise A punctuation exercise A piece of work linked to the IPC topic Homework will alternate with one week being on the computer through Education City or My maths, with the next week being written pieces in their homework book.

  24. Remember we are here to help Should your child come across anything they do not understand in their homework, remind your child to ask their teacher. Write any notes for the teacher and send in to class in the morning if any problems arise. And we are of course available at the end of day should any parent need advice, help or support. Please wait till the teacher has dismissed the whole class before approaching.
