WISE Mission

…to improve the effectiveness and capacity of non governmental, commercial and governmental organisations responsible for delivery of humanitarian relief in particular but not exclusively by ensuring greater gender sensitivity in the assessment, management, delivery and evaluation of humanitarian relief operations.

WISE Goal

Build a professional cadre of female logisticians

By 2010, WISE will have made significant progress in two ways: (1) Increased the number of female supply-chain professionals in the humanitarian sector to ensure empathy with women beneficiaries. (2) Created opportunities for women affected by disasters to acquire skills in logistics and supply chain management.

WISE has adopted a three-prong strategy to accomplish its mission: (1) Encourage humanitarian organisations to adopt equal

  • pportunity recruitment policies in order to promote the

numbers of female logisticians and supply chain professionals. (2) Support gender education of both female and male logisticians throughout their careers. (3) Provide mentorship to women logisticians and supply chain professional so that they can fully develop their potential.

– WISE website has been launched and is receiving visitors from across the globe – Article in Monday Developments, Oxfam Humanitarian bulletin for Dec 06 and in LINKS, Oxfam global gender communication magazine, a newsletter for Oxfam staff and partners printed in four languages
