  • Began as a Texas – South Africa partnership between two

District Governors in 2000

  • Three major collection sites in the U.S.
  • Wisconsin Operation began in 2005

  • Collected 3951 boxes of books (94% from

schools)

  • Packed 89 pallets of books (26 pallets fill a truck)
  • 8 packing events (11 pallets per packing event)
  • 188 volunteers contributing 619 hours (7 man-hours

per pallet)

  • Shipped 7 truck loads
  • 171 pallets
  • Plus 300 desks
  • Ended the year with 14 finished pallets available

to ship and 35 unfinished pallets to pack

  • 1517 volunteer hours from 607 volunteer events
