… we support global literacy and education by placing used books in the hands of people who need them.
History
- Began as a Texas – South Africa partnership between two
District Governors in 2000
- Three major collection sites in the U.S.
- Wisconsin Operation began in 2005

- Collected 3951 boxes of books (94% from
schools)
- Packed 89 pallets of books (26 pallets fill a truck)
- 8 packing events (11 pallets per packing event)
- 188 volunteers contributing 619 hours (7 man-hours
per pallet)
- Shipped 7 truck loads
- 171 pallets
- Plus 300 desks
- Ended the year with 14 finished pallets available
to ship and 35 unfinished pallets to pack
- 1517 volunteer hours from 607 volunteer events
