Proposal Background

The American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM) has been merged into the National Society of Professional Surveyors (NSPS); NSPS has emerged as THE National Organization representing the surveying profession in the United States.

Proposal Background

Only Approximately 8 - 12% of state surveying association members are members of NSPS; For NSPS to continue to be influential on national legislative issues this percentage needs to grow significantly. For NSPS to continue to be influential when working with allied professions this percentage needs to grow significantly.

Proposed Solution

At the May 5, 2012 NSPS Annual meeting in Charlotte, North Carolina a motion was presented and approved by both the NSPS Board of Governors and Board of Directors for the creation of a 100% Affiliation Program.

The program:

 A new membership program of “Full Affiliation”;  A formal agreement with NSPS.  The Affiliate submits its roster to the NSPS Secretary to determine the commitment between NSPS, the Affiliate and it’s members on the roster.  The Affiliate would pay $40 per member for those

  • n their roster who meet the NSPS voting

membership guidelines.

The Program:

All qualified members, on the roster, become full members of NSPS with all the rights and privileges of membership. The Affiliate is granted a voting seat on the Board of Directors of NSPS (with the Affiliate paying all normal expenses related to those privileges).
