The story of Manqoba
Manqoba Madiba is a 15-year old boy born and bred in Kwadengezi Township. He was first identified at Jubilee Primary School through a mass participation talent drive. It has been GIBA’s dream to find and develop local talent. When we met him, he couldn’t speak English but managed to tell us he loved to ride
- bikes. We brought him into the track to
trial and he showed potential! After this we went on a sponsorship drive to have all of his equipment and training
- sponsored. This was in 2012….

Manqoba’s journey..
Year 1 KZN Merit Award Year 2 Competed in Full National Series, with 2 trips to JHB Placed SECOND in KZN Series Placed FOURTH in SA Champs Year 3 Travelled twice to JHB Placed THIRD in SA BMX Champs Year 4 Manqoba is heading to Rotterdam, Holland for the BMX World Championships! This was his first time on an aeroplane and he was the first member of his family to leave the country. He has been living at the WCC in Switzerland for the past 2 years, training & coaching! COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT is close to our heart !
