The Beginning…

▪ Established in Brussels 1959 ▪ 8 Founding National Societies: ▸ Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Great Britain, Spain, Switzerland and USA ▸ Soon joined by Japan, Italy, and the Netherlands ▸ Most recent addition: China SCC in 2018 ▪ First Congress in Munich 1960 ▸ Attended by 350 delegates from 16 countries

IFSCC Governing System

▪ The Council – has ultimate control of the IFSCC ▸ Each Member Society elects a Representative to the Council ▸ These Council Members each speak on behalf of their Society ▸ The Council meets once a year to:

▸ Hear Executive and Committee reports ▸ Discuss topics of interest ▸ Vote on all major decisions.

▪ The Praesidium – the IFSCC governing body

▸ Council Members nominate individuals to serve on the Praesidium ▸ Nominations are voted on by the Council ▸ Each Zone has at least 2 Praesidium Members serving at any time ▸ Future Host Societies of Congresses or Conferences have a Member on the Praesidium ▸ Praesidium meetings held twice a year to: ▸ Discuss issues of concern to individual Members and Member Societies ▸ Ensure the efficient running of the organization ▸ Continually improve IFSCC offerings
