Practicalities
All uniform and PE kit must be labelled. Every child should have a waterproof coat. Packed lunches should not contain fizzy drinks, chocolate,
sweets or nut products.
Every child should have a named water bottle which contains
- nly water.
Break times- healthy snack/fruit. If someone different is picking your child up, then please
inform either the Office or the Class Teacher.
We must have a permission letter if your child is going to be
allowed to walk home on their own.
Behaviour
A copy of our behaviour policy is available on our
website.
It is important that we work together as a partnership and
that you understand how behaviour issues are dealt with at school.
At St Andrews we promote positive behaviour throughout
and we have many positive reinforcements in place. For example in Year 5 we have raffle tickets and team points.
Open door policy
St Andrews operates an open door policy. It is important that if
you have any issues or concerns, you come and discuss them with the class teacher.
Please understand that first thing in the morning when the door
is opened or when the teacher is seeing the children out at the end of day is not always the most convenient time to discuss matters.
If it is urgent or important, then please write a note and hand it
to the class teacher. Otherwise you can call the office to make an appointment with the class teacher or for them to call you back.
If you still require further discussions or advice, then please see
the Key Stage Leader.
Parent Partnership
Reading
We expect that your child reads each night. Comprehension skills are very important. Please discuss
your child’s reading book with them and ask questions about the text they have read.
Spelling
Spelling will be given out on Mondays for a test on Fridays. We look at patterns and do practise in school but please
encourage good practise at home too!

In Class 5S & 5A your child will have PE on Monday and
Wednesday.
Please ensure that their PE kit is in school on these days. Tracksuits (to be worn over the school PE kit) and trainers
are allowed for PE as children may go outside in all weathers.
PE kits will be sent home at the end of each half term so
that they can be washed.
Jewellery should not be worn during PE. Earrings should
be taken out or you must provide tape to cover them.

Childhood Obesity Plan 2017
The government are planning various things to reduce
levels of obesity, one of which is encourage schools and parents to ensure that their children partake in 60 minutes of physical activity per day – 30 minutes at home and 30 minutes at school.
At our school, all of our classes are timetabled for 2
hours of curriculum PE per week.
We are trying to supplement this by 3-4 minute work-
- uts or dances throughout the school day.
