As seen in the chart, unemployment in SIBIU (city) and SIBIU County is lower than in the catchment area and even lower than unemployment in Romania (7.2% in August 2014). Traffic split – 2014 Number of aircraft movements – 2012-2014 As seen in the charts, legacy carriers hold more than 69% of the total traffic, while low-cost carriers only around 21%. The number of aircraft movements increased from 2012, reaching up to 4.902 movements in 2014.

Number of passengers 2012-2014 SVID Analysis – 2012-2014

As seen in the second chart (Seasonal Variation in Demand) the result for 2014 is 9.285 ( 0-1,9 Excellent ; 2,0-9,9 Good ; 10,0- 19,9 Poor), for 2013 is 6,305 and for 2012 is 7,050. The higher variation in 2014 is due to the launch of 2 new routes (first in the middle of June and the second one in October) which increased traffic in the second half of 2014.

Start-up Aid for New Destinations from SBZ As of 2013 SIBIU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT together with Sibiu County Council are sustaining public selection procedures for granting financial aid to airline companies for "OPENING NEW ROUTES DEPARTING FROM SIBIU INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT"

  • Two new routes have been introduced following the

selection procedures, by WIZZ AIR: SBZ – London Luton, as of June, 14th, 2014 and SBZ – Dortmund, starting with Oct 26th, 2014.

  • Preferred destinations (not to be limited to):

Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia, Rome, Venice, Verona, Milan, Paris, Bruxelles.

  • Based on an annual budget available, we provide

state aid compensation to airlines, up to 50% of the company’s airport fees for a number of maximum 3 years of operations.
